Petra Becker-Pechau

Petra Becker-Pechau is a research assistant at the Department of Computer Science, University of Hamburg, Germany. She is working in the Software Engineering Group of Christiane Floyd and Heinz Züllighoven. Her research interests are in the area of object- oriented software architectures and development methods.

In addition to her work at the university, she is a consultant and trainer at IT Workplace Solutions, a company that develops the JWAM object-oriented framework for Java, which is based on results gained at the university. The framework is used by the company in several commercial projects.

In 1997 Petra Becker-Pechau graduated in Computer Science at the university of applied sciences in Hamburg (former Fachhochschule Hamburg). Her master’s thesis on components in object-oriented architectures was awarded first price by the Promotional Society of her department (Förderverein des Fachbereichs).

Until 2001 she worked at IC & C GmbH, Elmshorn, Germany. There she gained experience with object-oriented highly iterative projects; first as a software developer and later on as a project manager.
