Software Engineering Group

Der Arbeitsbereich Softwaretechnik vertritt einen anwendungsnahen und menschenzentrierten Ansatz und befasst sich primär mit Entwurf und Konstruktion, Auswahl, Einsatz und Weiterentwicklung von interaktiver Software zur Unterstützung von qualifizierten Aufgaben in Wirtschaft und Verwaltung. Dabei kommt dem objektorientierten Paradigma eine besondere Bedeutung zu.

Im Mittelpunkt steht das Anliegen, qualitativ hochwertige Software so zu entwickeln, dass sie praxisgerecht, verständlich und handhabbar zur technischen und methodischen Unterstützung von Arbeitsprozessen einge­setzt werden kann. Der Arbeitsbereich geht davon aus, dass dies nur mit einem erweiterten Blick auf die or­ganisatorische und soziale Einbettung von Softwaresystemen in ihrem Einsatzumfeld gewährleistet werden kann.

History of SWT

Since fall 1991 there is a software engineering group in the department of computer science of the University of Hamburg. It stands for an application- and human-oriented approach. It is primarily concerned with design and construction, use and further development of interactive software supporting qualified work in industry and administration.

The central concern is to develop high-quality software that can be used to provide technical and methodical support for work processes in a way that is adequate for practice, comprehensible and ergonomical. The group's assumption is that this can only be assured by taking a wider look at the organisational and social embedment of software systems in their application context.

So far the approach has been elaborated and proven in practice primarily for application systems in the service and administration sector.
